Partnership

Six golf facilities in Colorado — including four in the Denver metro area, one in the northern part of the state and another on the Western Slope — will be among the international sites that will host Women’s Golf Day events on Tuesday (June 6).

The activity is for both new players and ones who have some previous experience in the game.

For the first time, the CWGA is partnering with the PGA Tour Superstore (9951 E. Arapahoe Road in Greenwood Village) for a free Women’s Golf Day event on Tuesday at the store.

The Superstore-based WGD function will run from 4-8 p.m. For the first two hours, the focus will be on basic instruction and lessons, with participants rotating between stations — hitting on the simulators, and chipping and putting on the putting greens. Prizes will be awarded following a putting contest. The proper stance and grip will be among the instruction topics.

Then from 6-8 p.m., it’ll be time for snacks and beverages, to socialize and network, and to receive information regarding CWGA clinics and Superstore functions, and ways to get involved in the game.

As part of Women’s Golf Day, the Superstore will be offering discounts on various items to participants.

This event “is important for two reasons: It provides women the opportunity to be introduced to the game, or to return to the game if they’ve been away,” CWGA executive director Laura Robinson said. “The other important thing is our partnership with the PGA Tour Superstore.”

Indeed, the CWGA and the Superstore have also joined forces this year in various capacities at the CWGA Annual Meeting and for next month’s CWGA Niblick Tournament.

On Tuesday at the Superstore, CWGA staffers and volunteers will welcome Women’s Golf Day participants and provide them with information on the CWGA Experience events and tournaments. They’ll also assist with putting, chipping and driving, and will also be on hand for the socializing during the final two hours.
