The Colorado Section PGA professionals and the Colorado Golf Association amateurs concluded Colorado Cup Matches at the challenging Green Valley Ranch Golf Club without either Colorado Cup changing hands. The first day featured the four-ball team matches, and the final round featured the singles matches for both the Open and Senior Teams. In the Open Division, The professionals kept the Colorado Cup by defeating the amateurs 11-7 overall. The professionals had a 4-2 lead going into the singles matches, and never looked back. The professionals won five singles matches and tied four matches to win the singles 7 – 5 and keep the Colorado Cup for another year. The professionals now lead the overall series 23-8-2.
The Senior Colorado Cup also stayed with last year’s victors, as the senior amateurs were able to hold on in singles to win the Cup. The amateurs took a 4-2 lead into the singles matches, and won five singles matches and tied three matches to give them a 6 ½ – 5 ½ win in the singles. This gave the Senior amateurs the overall victory over the professionals 10 ½ – 7 ½ . The Senior amateurs now lead the overall series 12-7-2 since the Senior Colorado Cup was added in 1983.
