Fox Hill CC Wins CGA State Club Team Championship

The two-day CGA State Club Team Championship was contested at Canterberry Golf Course on Saturday and finished at the new Murphy Creek Golf Course on Sunday. Fox Hill Country Club became the first private club to win this event when they edged the defending champions, Meadow Hills Golf Course, by only one stroke. Fox Hill was led by Guy Mertz, who fired a 71 the first day and backed with a final round 73 to help lead his team to a total of 449. Meadow Hills took second at 450, and Indian Tree Golf Course, despite a 71-72 from Rick DeWitt, finished third at 453.

The event was played in the college format – each team’s score is the cumulative total of the three best scores of the four individual team members.
