Formidable Field

Major championship No. 6 of the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado era will begin on Monday (July 10) when Legacy Golf Course in Westminster hosts the Colorado Junior Amateur Championship.

The boys field will feature all three reigning state high school champions — Kyle Pearson of Highlands Ranch (5A winner, along with the CGA Match Play runner-up), Luke Trujillo of Colorado Springs (4A) and Oliver Jack of Denver (3A). Also scheduled to compete are Davis Bryant of Aurora, who last month won the first JGAC major of 2017 (the Colorado Junior PGA Championship) and qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur; TJ Shehee of Mead, another U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier; and University of Colorado letter-of-intent signee Cole Krantz of Windsor.

On the girls side, among those entered are Caroline Jordaan of Denver, winner of the North American Junior Amateur in January; Jenna Chun of Englewood, runner-up in the 5A state high school tournament; and Arielle Keating of Colorado Springs, who placed fourth in the Colorado Junior PGA Championship. Hailey Schalk of Erie, who won the girls title in the Colorado Junior PGA, isn’t in the field as she’s competing next week in the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Championships in the San Diego area.
