Ashley Tait of Raccoon Creek Golf Course found herself three strokes behind Becca Huffer of Overland Golf Course going into the final round of the CWGA Stroke Play Championship at Buffalo Run Golf Course but came away with her first CWGA Stroke Play title. Tait began the final round with fire in her eyes as she birdied the first hole and continued a steady game until the fifth hole where she made a triple bogey. However, Tait quickly put this hole behind her and followed up the hole number six with a birdie. Later it all came down to Tait making a three-foot putt on the final hole to avoid a playoff with Dawn Shockley of Estes Park Golf Course. Tait sunk the putt with confidence to claim the victory.
During the opening round of the championship, Becca Huffer shot a four-under-par round of 68 to take an early lead in the event. Huffer made two birdies on the front nine and a pair of birdies on the back nine to complete her first bogey-free round of her life. Ashley Tait shot a 73 which put her in 5th place after day one. Becca continued her hot streak by firing a second-round 69 with a total of 8 birdies. Tait had a great second round, too, as she shot a 67, placing her within reach of Huffer going into the final round. Kasey Claussen of Collindale Golf Course found herself tied with Tait after finishing with a two-round total of 140, positioning her with Huffer and Tait in the last pairing group of the final day.
